Your energy contract determines how the system picks its charging moments. You set this under Instellingen ("Settings").
Energieplan ("Energy plan")
Under Energieplan you choose from:

| Dag en nacht ("Day and night") | Dual tariff: a fixed cheap night rate (usually 22:00–06:00) and a more expensive day rate. |
| Dynamisch ("Dynamic") | Your hourly price follows the Belpex market and changes every hour. |
Day and night: fixed night-hours charging
On a Dag en nacht contract you can enable Vaste nachturen laden (22:00–06:00) ("Fixed night-hours charging"). Off (the default), the system only charges overnight what your battery and car actually still need. On, the battery is charged to full every night within that window regardless of need — handy if you always want to leave with a full battery, for example.
Dynamic pricing and Belpex
On a Dynamisch contract, the charger explains it in its own words:

And on Dag en nacht:
Dag/nacht tarief: Uw auto laadt automatisch tussen 22:00 en 06:00 uur
("Day/night tariff: Your car charges automatically between 22:00 and 06:00")
You can also set a price cap via Stel max BELPEX prijs in (€/MWh) ("Set max BELPEX price (€/MWh)") — the system will then never charge above that price, even during the cheapest hours of an expensive day.
PV-terugregeling bij lage prijzen ("PV curtailing at low prices")
At very low or negative electricity prices, your installation temporarily reduces the power it feeds back to the grid, so you don't pay to inject. Your battery absorbs the surplus for as long as it has room.
You'll find this setting under Instellingen ("Settings"), in the section PV-terugregeling bij lage prijzen. Use the Aan ("On") / Uit ("Off") buttons to choose whether curtailing is active. The section only appears on a Dynamisch ("Dynamic") contract — the only plan where price-based curtailing ever runs. (If the setting is off, the section stays visible on other contracts too, so you can always switch it back on.)
A few things to know:
- The setting takes effect immediately — there is no separate save button. After a change you'll see "Instelling ontvangen door je installatie." ("Setting received by your installation") once your installation has confirmed it; that can take a few minutes, or longer if your installation is offline.
- Switching it off asks for confirmation. Only do this if an inverter in your installation must not be curtailed — for example because it earns green energy certificates. With curtailing off, your installation keeps injecting during negative prices too, and in those hours you pay for every kWh you feed back.
- Safety protections always stay active: on grid overvoltage and on a control command from the grid operator, your installation still curtails, even with this setting off.
A dynamic contract gets you the most out of the system: your battery, car and smart relays all shift toward the cheapest hours of the day. On (Geen) or a fixed contract, the system only optimises for your own solar energy.
Does your energy plan look wrong? Change it under Instellingen, or contact your installer — the system's behaviour depends on it being correct.
